Good Samaritan Hospice is seeking a qualified Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join our team.
The CNE will work collaboratively with individuals and groups, acting as a resource and utilizing creative teaching methods to meet the educational needs of the organization.
The role includes developing, evaluating, and timely updating of clinical educational programs and plans to include:
- Orientation
- Preceptorships
- Coaching/mentoring individual clinical staff
- Skills & Competency checks
- Certification review courses
- Care planning, LCD training and documentation, and all other identified educational needs.
- Electronic medical record
- The CNE will work with the leadership team on performance improvement projects as well as policy review and development.
This candidate must be a Registered Nurse with at least:
- 3 years of experience in healthcare education is recommended.
- Hospice experience preferred

Good Sam is seeking a WEEKEND Intake Specialist for our service areas. This individual will manage incoming referrals and assist in arranging the services necessary for initiating hospice care. Computer proficiency and management of multiple systems is required. An LPN license is preferred for this role.
The schedule will be 3-10 hour shifts- Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm.
As our Intake Specialist you will:
- Monitor hospital and email systems for new referrals
- Initiate electronic (EMR) for new intakes and referral
- Complete insurance reviews and certifications for new referrals
- Arrange DME and systems required for admission
- Coordinate scheduling of visits for hospice admission
This position is in an office setting, NOT a remote position.

As the LPN in our Palliative Care Department, you will be responsible for the provision of nursing care to patients according to an established physician plan of care, with service delivery under the direction of The Medical Director and in compliance with applicable state Nurse Practice regulations and Good Samaritan policy and procedure. The Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for assessing and evaluating the patient's physical, psychological, and mental needs and providing nursing services aimed at improving the quality of life for both the patient and their family.
Qualifications:
● Graduate from an accredited educational institution
● Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in acute care, emergency department, home health, hospice, med/surg, PCU, or geriatric nursing.
● Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
● Current BLS certification.
● Additional Skills – excellent communication, decision-making and critical thinking skills, excellent computer skills (EMR), complies with accepted professional standards of practice, and a working knowledge and commitment to hospice philosophy.
● Current driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance coverage, driving record and reliable transportation that meets the standards set forth in Good Samaritan’s policy.

We are currently seeking a FT social worker for our NRV service area.
As a social worker you will be working on a dynamic and engaged interdisciplinary team going into private homes and facilities. The social worker will be focused on assessing the psychosocial needs of both the hospice patient and their family members during end stage illnesses. You will be helping to develop and carry out a plan of care that attends to the unique psychosocial/ emotional/spiritual needs of the patient and family. The social worker will provide counseling related to role changes/losses, stress and identified coping difficulties of both the patient and caregiver. The social worker will collaborate with community resources, as needed, to meet the patient and family needs.
